The nearest village is Roccascalegna which ​​Conde Nast recently (February 2018) put at the top of their list of the 9 most beautiful hilltop towns in Italy. The house is located deep in the countryside at the end of a dead end road in the south central part of Chieti Province in the Abruzzo Region of Italy close to Lago di Bomba (or Lago di Sangro) which is about the 15th largest lake in Italy at around 10 sq km in size. The villa sits at 500 metres above sea level overlooking the Val di Sangro and is 30 minutes away from blue flag beaches and less than an hour away from superb skiing. 

Abruzzo is known as "the greenest region in Europe" as one third of its territory, the largest in Europe, is set aside as national parks and protected nature reserves: there are three national parks, one regional park, and 38 protected nature reserves and contains species such as the rare marsican brown bear, Apennine wolf, Abruzzo chamoix, red deer, lynx, roe deer, buzzard, rock partridge, alpine and red-billed chough, peregrine falcon, sparrow hawk, European badger, Italian hare, pine marten, spectacled salamander, Golden Eagle, snow vole, red fox, porcupine, wild cat, wild boar, otter and Orsini's viper. More than 75% of all Europe's fauna and flora are represented in this area!

Chieti is the second largest Province of Abruzzo stretching from Martinsicuro in the north east to San Salvo in the south east and to the Maiella in the west. It is bordered by the Adriatic Sea to the north east and by the Apennine Mountains to the west.

At the top of the above satellite image you can see the Maiella mountain where you can ski. The Adriatic Sea can be seen at the bottom with Pescara, the largest city in Abruzzo, in the middle far right of the image. Lanciano, the nearest large town, is in the center of the image and is about 30 minutes drive away.
